TRABALHO ANÁLOGO À ESCRAVIDÃO NO MEIO AGRÁRIO EM GOIÁS: falhas na proteção trabalhista e na promoção dos direitos humanos

Abstract

This study analyzes labor conditions analogous to slavery in the agrarian sector in Goiás, highlighting failures in labor protection and in the promotion of human rights that contribute to the persistence of this violation in the state. The research is based on the context in which Goiás ranks among the Brazilian states with the highest rates of rescued workers, especially in temporary rural activities marked by exhausting working hours, degrading conditions, and debt bondage. The objective of this study is to understand the social, structural, and institutional factors that favor the continuity of this practice, despite the existence of a robust legal framework, such as the Federal Constitution of 1988 and Article 149 of the Brazilian Penal Code, amended by Law No. 10,803/2003. The methodology adopted is qualitative, with documentary analysis based on reports from the Pastoral Land Commission (CPT), judicial decisions, official data, and specialized literature. The results show that low levels of education, socioeconomic vulnerability, the political and economic power of agribusiness, precarious labor inspection, and impunity are significant elements that sustain exploitation in rural areas. It is concluded that the effective fight against labor conditions analogous to slavery requires integrated public policies, institutional strengthening, and preventive actions capable of ensuring dignity and fundamental rights for rural workers.
