SATISFAÇÃO DE PACIENTES QUE UTILIZAM OVERDENTURE MANDIBULAR RETIDA POR IMPLANTE UNITÁRIO: uma revisão de literatura

Abstract

Introduction: the single implant-retained mandibular overdenture (OMRIU) is an implant-mucosal-supported prosthesis fixed on a single implant in the maxilla in the symphysis region. This type of prosthesis is a treatment option for edentulous patients who are looking for a less invasive rehabilitation and who have some discomfort with conventional complete dentures and/or restrictions for a mandibular prosthesis fixed by two or more implants. Objective: this review will be carried out due to the need to collect data on treatment with mandibular overdenture retained by a single implant and highlight the improvement in terms of satisfaction and quality of life. Methods: a literature review was carried out, which will use other literature reviews, as well as books and periodicals, for which the Pubmed, Google Scholar, Scielo and ResearchGate databases will be used for the research. Results: in viewof this literature review, treatment with mandibular overdenture retained by a single implant is satisfactory, effective, reliable and brings quality of life in relation to rehabilitation and oral health of patients compared to patients who use complete denture and overdenture with two implants. Conclusions: in this sense, mandibular overdenture on a single implant is a viable treatment option for geriatric patients who are less prone to complex implant interventions and socioeconomic conditions.
