CÁRIE NA PRIMEIRA INFÂNCIA: Interferência de fatores sociais no processo saúde-doença

Abstract

Caries is one of the main oral diseases that affect different populations, the biggest problem being the social factors in which it is found, which can affect patients of all age groups. The present work aims to present a study on social factors and their interference in dental caries, through an approach based on bibliographic theoretical references. The research was based on scientific articles from the Pubmed, SciELO and Google Scholar databases, from 2000 to 2022. The results showed that social factors, such as demographic, socioeconomic, behavioral, and biological directly influence early caries, highlighting the importance of guardians and encouraging dentists to raise awareness and prevention from the gestational period. Lack of adequate treatment can result in a major negative impact on the child’s quality of life, causing affected development, pain, discomfort, loss of appetite and potential difficulties in social development. The key to early treatment is identifying the factors causing the problem and adopting new habits.
