VIOLÊNCIA OBSTÉTRICA E A ATUAÇÃO DO ENFERMEIRO NO SUS: DIREITOS E AUTONOMIA DO PACIENTE

Abstract

Introduction: Obstetric violence is an act carried out by health professionals, through dehumanized treatment. It is characterized by mistreatment and disrespect towards women during pregnancy or during labor, birth and postpartum. Obstetric violence is based on the patient’s human rights, as it is a topic that involves health, self-determination and personal integrity, and can occur through physical, verbal, moral or psychological violence, being a research theme that adds knowledge to women in labor regarding the types of violence that are often not recognized. Objective: To carry out a bibliographical review on i) obstetric violence and the role of nurses in SUS; ii) patients’ rights and autonomy; and iii) how to contribute to the training of new nurses, in order to eliminate cases of obstetric violence within the scope of the SUS. Methodology: This is a bibliographic review study in which search sites were used, such as the virtual library, SciELO, Biblioteca Virtual em Saúde-BVS with access to the Nursing Specific Database, and My Library, using the keywords: nurses' role in the SUS; obstetric violence; patient rights; systematization of nursing care; obstetric nurse. Results: After analyzing 7 publications included in this article, it was observed that 100% of them were written in the last six years, which reflects the current nature of the topic of obstetric violence and the need for this subject to be discussed on the world stage. Conclusion: To improve conditions regarding obstetric violence in SUS, it will be necessary to expand social inclusion in the public network, making it easier for the population to learn about the conduct they must take in light of their duties and the rights that affect them so that it does not occur. obstetric violence.
