<title>IMPACTO DOS TIPOS DE DIETA NA PREVALÊNCIA DE DOENÇAS DENTÁRIAS EM CÃES: um estudo em Ituiutaba-MG</title>

<description>IMPACTO DOS TIPOS DE DIETA NA PREVALÊNCIA DE DOENÇAS DENTÁRIAS EM CÃES: um estudo em Ituiutaba-MG
This study aimed to analyze the impact of different diet types on the prevalence of dental diseases in domestic dogs in the municipality of Ituiutaba-MG, Brazil. The research was conducted using a quantitative-qualitative approach, consisting of an integrative literature review and the application of questionnaires to 69 dog owners. The information obtained allowed us to relate factors such as type of food, age, size, and oral hygiene practices to the occurrence of oral alterations, such as tartar,gingivitis, and halitosis. The results indicated that small and older dogs presented a higher incidence of dental diseases, and that the exclusive consumption of dry food was not sufficient to prevent the accumulation of bacterial plaque. It was also found that the absence of regular brushing and inadequate dietary management potentiate the emergence of these diseases. It is concluded that diet exerts a direct influence on the oral health of dogs, but it must be associated with oral hygiene practices and continuous veterinary monitoring. This study contributes to raising awareness among pet owners and promoting the importance of preventive veterinary dentistry in improving animal quality of life.

<title>PREDISPOSIÇÃO À PIOMETRA EM CADELAS: Revisão Narrativa Sobre Fatores Hormonais, Etários, Raciais e Genéticos</title>

<description>PREDISPOSIÇÃO À PIOMETRA EM CADELAS: Revisão Narrativa Sobre Fatores Hormonais, Etários, Raciais e Genéticos
Pyometra is a common reproductive disorder in intact female dogs, characterized by uterine&#13;
inflammation resulting from luteal-phase hormonal influence, ascending bacterial infection,&#13;
and progressive endometrial changes. The literature review conducted between 2021 and&#13;
2025 showed that the occurrence of the disease is not exclusively linked to advanced age, but&#13;
rather to the cumulative number of estrous cycles, reproductive history, and individual&#13;
biological susceptibility. Certain breeds demonstrated higher prevalence, and recent studies&#13;
identified an association between the ABCC4 gene and increased risk in Golden Retrievers,&#13;
indicating that part of the predisposition has a genetic basis. Clinical data confirm greater&#13;
severity in closed-cervix cases, with higher probability of sepsis and the need for immediate&#13;
surgical intervention. The findings reinforce the importance of preventive strategies based on&#13;
elective sterilization, identification of risk groups, and updated screening protocols.&#13;
Reproductive risk stratification, combined with guided tutor counseling, represents an&#13;
effective measure to reduce morbidity associated with pyometra.

<title>CONSEQUÊNCIAS DO CIGARRO ELETRÔNICO NA SAÚDE BUCAL</title>

<description>CONSEQUÊNCIAS DO CIGARRO ELETRÔNICO NA SAÚDE BUCAL
Objective: This article analyzes the impacts of e-cigarettes on oral health, focusing&#13;
on changes in periodontal tissues, the oral microbiome, and inflammatory conditions.&#13;
Methodology and Results: A qualitative literature review was conducted. Data&#13;
collection was performed in scientific databases such as Scielo and the Virtual Health&#13;
Library (VHL), using specific and renowned descriptors on the suggested topic. The&#13;
use of electronic cigarettes (ECs) has expanded significantly, especially among&#13;
young adults, under the false perception that they are less harmful than traditional&#13;
cigarettes. Even though e-cigarettes are marketed as a less harmful alternative to&#13;
traditional cigarettes, they contain chemical compounds that can trigger significant&#13;
changes in the oral environment, as well as the effects of inhaled vapor on gum&#13;
tissue, the oral microbiome, and inflammatory processes, such as increased&#13;
gingivitis, periodontal disease, dry mouth, as well as harm to the respiratory and&#13;
cardiovascular systems, and carcinogenic compounds in inhaled aerosols, among&#13;
others, as explained in this article. Conclusion: Although often considered harmless,&#13;
e-cigarettes pose real risks to oral health. Greater public awareness of their effects&#13;
(the impacts of their use) is needed, suggesting the development of more effective&#13;
health policies focused on prevention, since prolonged use can significantly&#13;
compromise oral health.

<title>IMPACTO DA SAÚDE INTESTINAL NA PERFORMANCE ESPORTIVA: RELAÇÃO ENTRE MICROBIOTA INTESTINAL E O DESEMPENHO ESPORTIVO</title>
<link>http://65.108.49.104:80/xmlui/handle/123456789/1236</link>
<description>IMPACTO DA SAÚDE INTESTINAL NA PERFORMANCE ESPORTIVA: RELAÇÃO ENTRE MICROBIOTA INTESTINAL E O DESEMPENHO ESPORTIVO
The gut microbiota has been extensively investigated due to its essential role in&#13;
metabolic, immunological, and inflammatory regulation. In the sports context,&#13;
emerging evidence suggests that its composition and functionality may influence&#13;
physiological responses to exercise, recovery, and physical performance. In this&#13;
scenario, diet and supplementation with probiotics and prebiotics have been&#13;
proposed as potential strategies to optimize athletic performance and overall&#13;
health in athletes. However, despite the growing body of research, gaps remain&#13;
regarding the magnitude of these effects and the most effective approaches for&#13;
microbiota modulation. Therefore, this study aimed to analyze the influence of gut&#13;
microbiota and supplementation with probiotics and prebiotics on sports&#13;
performance, focusing on potential benefits related to performance, recovery, and&#13;
overall athlete health.
