Abstract:
This article analyzes the impacts of artificial intelligence on civil liability, focusing on the
comparison between the legal systems of Brazil and the United States. The objective of
the research is to understand how civil liability is affected by the increasing use of
automated systems, considering fundamental principles such as fault, causal link and
damage. The methodology adopted includes a review of legal literature and a critical
analysis of relevant cases, allowing an in-depth understanding of gaps in existing
legislation. The results indicate that civil liability needs to be adapted to deal with the
challenges posed by artificial intelligence, suggesting the need for legal reforms that
guarantee the protection of individuals. The discussion on civil liability in the
information age is crucial to guarantee fair compensation for victims and guide the
development of appropriate public policies.
