Abstract:
Introduction: Observation of the many actions undertaken in the health area points to
Primary Health Care (PHC) and its specialties as the main levels of assistance in the
public health system. Dentistry stands out for prioritizing promotion, education and
prevention in the initial and adult stages of the individual. Objective: The objective of
this work was to carry out a literature review to analyze the challenges of dentistry in the
family health strategy. Methodology: Under this theme, this article investigated,
through a literature review, the deficiencies and virtues of public health in acting
effectively in Oral Health, using the databases Pubmed, MedLine, Scielo, Google
Scholar, LILACS, using the keywords: “primary health”, “family health strategy” and
“dentistry”. Conclusion: Therefore, it was concluded that the challenges presented
and recorded, in addition to being objects of study, can still generate, in their
achievements, possible integrations of Dentistry with the community using the family
health strategy as a gateway to their actions.
