Abstract:
Humanizing dogs is the process of treating family members by giving them human characteristics, such as dressing them up and talking to them as if they were people. This can have both positive and negative effects: it strengthens the bond with their owners; on the other hand, it can cause stress, anxiety, undesirable behaviors and limit the dogs' social development. The study reports the case of a family with four dogs: a female dog, two three-year-old Siberian Huskies and a nine-year-old Lhasa Apso, who faced socialization difficulties. These animals were trained using the NePoPo® technique (negative, positive, positive). The results obtained suggest that it is necessary to respect the nature of dogs with all their particularities and not treat them like human beings.
