Abstract:
Introduction: The role of nurses in risk classification in emergency services requires the aggregation of a set of scientific knowledge and application of protocols available for its use. Objectives: This study aims to analyze the role of nurses in the risk classification in urgency and emergency units and the feasibility of its realization. Methods: A search was performed by consulting the collection of the Virtual Health Library (VHL), using the following Descriptors (DECS): screening, urgency, emergency, nursing, reception and risk classification. Results: Through the study, it was possible to identify fifteen articles that addressed the theme studied. Conclusions: The risk classification in emergency services, through the use of the Manchester Protocol, being properly applied by nurses, contributes significantly, questioning their leadership capacity and responsibility, as they have a different clinical look, adding scientific knowledge to the principle of humanized care.
