Abstract:
Pregnancy loss is an experience characterized by profound emotional consequences for parents, who often deal with grief in silence and isolation, due to the social and institutional invisibility inherent to this type of loss. This article aims to comprehend the emotional effects experienced by parents after the loss of a child during pregnancy and to emphasize the relevance of humanized care in the assistance provided by health professionals. Through a qualitative methodology and bibliographical analysis, it was found that the lack of receptive listening, symbolic rituals and social recognition of pain contributes to the increase in parental suffering. In this scenario, humanized care is presented as a crucial resource to welcome and validate the experience of grief, offering emotional support and respecting the individuality of each experience. Empathic intervention and training of health professionals are crucial for the subjective reconstruction of parents, reinforcing the demand for more sensitive, ethical and humanized practices in the face of pregnancy loss.
