Abstract:
Antisocial Personality Disorder (APD) presents its symptoms in childhood and adolescence, and those who experience it suffer a great impact on the family structure and dynamics, while also being impacted. Understanding this atypical condition, especially by family members, is essential so that they know how to deal with the child's misconduct and attitudes, such as: impulsivity, disrespect for social norms, violence and difficulty in social interaction. The characteristics that these children demonstrate in their behavior influence their school performance, as well as their coexistence in the family environment and social relationships, bringing a negative impact on their development. Genetic and environmental factors may be responsible for the development of dysfunctional behaviors, such as violence, physical and emotional abuse, use of psychoactive drugs, and other mental disorders in the family environment. The study of ASPD and its characteristics is very important, especially when it comes to family structure and dynamics, since the structuring and strengthening of emotional bonds, aligned with consistent parenting practices and the promotion of a healthy family environment, is a fundamental strategy for managing antisocial behavior in children and adolescents.
