Abstract:
Fournier's gangrene is an acute necrotizing infection that mainly affects the genital
and perineal region, involving soft tissues and characterized by accelerated
progression and high risk of mortality when not treated immediately. This study aimed
to present the nursing care provided to patients with Fournier's gangrene. An
integrative literature review was carried out, based on national and internationalpublications. The results revealed that, despite the severity of the disease and the
high associated mortality rate, there is a shortage of studies specifically focused on
nursing performance in this context. It was observed that the Systematization of
Nursing Care (SAE) and the use of the Nursing Process, especially based on Wanda
Horta's Theory, are fundamental tools for safe, effective and humanized practice.
Interventions include wound care, monitoring of vital signs, administration of
antibiotics, nutritional and emotional support, in addition to guidance to the patient
and their family. It is concluded that continuous training of nursing professionals and
strengthening of research in the area are essential to guarantee comprehensive and
evidence-based care for patients affected by this condition.
