Abstract:
In view of the demands of today, in order to be able to meet all the specifics of the
child, in order to reach his / her potential socio-cognitive development, it is necessary
several strategies and teaching methodologies. Thus, we seek to analyze the
importance of storytelling in the early years of elementary school for their
development. When tracing the primary objective of the research, it was noted that it
occurs through the analysis of the importance of storytelling for the cognitive and
affective development of students. Through stories, children can access other places,
times, ways of acting and being. The stories enable the knowledge of several
academic subjects, knowledge of peoples and their cultures in an instigating way,
being a creative instrument of exploration that should be used by the educator. It was
possible through the revised content to realize that child development occurs in a
process of interaction between the child and the environment, occurring from the
interactions that he experiences. In this context, storytelling, being an interactive and
pedagogical activity mediated by the educator, contributes significantly to the child's
cognitive and emotional development, while stimulating their imagination and
encouraging them to read, helping to train future readers and in the literacy process.
It was concluded that the work reached the objective initially proposed, which was to
analyze the importance of storytelling in the early years of elementary school, with
the purpose of examining how storytelling influences children's teaching-learning.
