Abstract:
This monograph aims to evaluate the prison system and its impact on society in
relation to the re-socialization of prisoners in Brazil. The method used is the
method of bibliographic compilation and the study of the legal position of the
Superior Courts. In theory, it is divided into three chapters. Initially, the historical
history of the prison and its main characteristics, the function of the sentence, as
well as the prison system and social inequality. The focus is on internal
coexistence, as well as the abuses and violence suffered inside the prison. The
second chapter deals with the Criminal Execution Law, its objectives and
purpose. Themes such as the prisoner's work, health status, education and all
the assistance offered by the law stand out. The third chapter discusses the
impact of imprisonment on the lives of inmates. Therefore, it is clear that the
sentences imposed on detainees are complicated and it is so difficult to reinsert
the ex-convict into the job market.
