Abstract:
Prison work, a prisoner's right and duty, is of paramount importance for achieving the objective of the Criminal Execution Law, in its article 1st. Thus, the present work aims to present the historical and legal aspects of this important tool for social reintegration, through electronic pages, in addition to statistics, information from public websites and experience of the author of this monographic work, to which he has been a Criminal Police officer for almost 20 years. Through this didactic, it was possible to see that prison labor is immensely relevant in the fulfillment of the prisoner's sentence, including highlighting the various benefits provided by him, such as redemption, remuneration, the achievement of human dignity, among others described in the resourcefulness of this work. Still, it mentions the adversities faced for the effective implementation of this right to its target audience, that is, the prisoners. In this sense, prejudice and lack of structure were highlighted, among other situations. Therefore, the work demonstrates that despite the various benefits, there is a large portion that, for certain reasons, do not exercise a prison activity.
