Abstract:
Introduction: The coronavirus pandemic (SARS-cov 2), which causes Covid-19 disease, required qualified nursing care, as the management of patients with Covid-19 is a challenge in ICUs, as health professionals had to adopt the use of masks and other barrier precautions, such as personal protective equipment (PPE) and social distancing, which caused physical and mental strain on professionals. Objective: This work aims to identify the challenges of the nursing team when dealing with critical patients in the ICU setting in front of Covid-19. Methodology: The method was based on an integrative literature review, carried out in the VHL/BIREME databases, in the LILACS database; BDENF; MEDLINE; on Google Scholar; PUBMED and DeCS, using the following descriptors: “Nursing” “Intensive care”, “Covid-19”. Results: The results of this study refer to the updates of the nursing staff in the ICU in front of Covid-19, which, due to the requirement for qualification, demands an awareness of the nursing class, focusing on workers who have worked for years in the ICUs . Conclusion: The surveys highlighted that the nursing team had as challenges the need to quickly adapt to combat Covid-19 and the constant search for training, having to work in a health system with deficits in human resources, materials and qualification . In this critical environment, the nursing professional has increased the professional ties between the multidisciplinary teams.
