Abstract:
Introduction. In January 2020, the World Health Organization (WHO) determined
the world state of public emergency and, in March of the same year, it decreed the
pandemic, due to the high transmissibility and dissemination of the SARS-CoV-2
virus. As it is a new virus, there is little evidence on the manifestations of Covid-19 in
people living with HIV/AIDS. Goal. Identify the main signs and symptoms of Covid-19
in people living with HIV/AIDS in national and international publications.
Methodology. This is an integrative review carried out through the databases of the
Medical Literature Analysis and Retrieval System online (MEDLINE), Scientific
Electronic Library Online (SCIELO), Latin American and Caribbean Literature in
Health Sciences (LILACS), portal PubMed and Nursing Databases (BDENF), in
which the PICo strategy is used to obtain controlled and uncontrolled descriptors,
which resulted in 12 selected articles. Results. The most prevalent signs and
symptoms were fever, cough and dyspnea, considering that all studies identified at
least one comorbidity, as well as most cases concentrated in males and most
participants were using antiretroviral therapy (ART). Discussion. It is noted that
people with HIVare more susceptible to the more severe symptoms of COVID-19. In
addition, the presence of comorbidities and irregular use of antiretroviral drugs
showed unfavorable clinical outcomes. Conclusion. It is noticed that patients coinfected
with HIV/Covid-19 demonstrated a higher rate of death at younger ages
when compared to the general population, a high frequency of dyspnea and several
associated comorbidities.
