Abstract:
The aim of this study was to investigate how the relationship between teaching professionality, teaching practice and teaching illness is configured. In order to theoretically discuss such issues, Oliveira (2009) was chosen to explain about teacher illness, Dal Rosso (2008) about the intensification of work, Meszáros (2008) to discuss alienation in the world of work, Lima (2005) and Harvey (2008) for the understanding of teaching working conditions from the neoliberal rationality. As a methodological procedure, we opted for guidelines of the dialectical method to catch the contradictions present in the teaching practice that lead to their illness. Thus, a literature review was carried out, through a survey of national productions from the last fifteen years (2005 to 2020). This investigation served as the basis for highlighting what researchers in the field of education have highlighted on this topic. The search for these productions was carried out on the Journal Portal of the Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior (CAPES), as it consists of a database that presents relevant content. For the research, the following descriptors were used: illness, teacher and work. In addition, a documentary research was carried out, with data collection from the State Secretaria Estadual de Educação do Estado de Goiás (SEDUC), relating to the Operational Guidelines that guide the work of teachers in the state. Thus, data on the illness of these professionals and the performance of the Health and Gerência de Segurança e Saúde do Servidor (GESAÚDE) were analyzed in order to know their attributions within the Department and the procedures adopted to alleviate the suffering of teachers. The data provided by the Gerência de Qualidade de Vida Ocupacional (GEQUAV) on the amount of sick leave granted to state teachers and on the diseases that most led to the teachers to leave from work in the last five years and data presented through research on teacher illness during the period of the pandemic caused by Covid-19 were also discussed. As it is sensitive and private data, the data presented were analyzed with all the necessary ethical rigor, always safeguarding the identity of the professionals.
