Abstract:
Anterior open bite is malocclusion in which the incisal edges of the upper and lower
incisors do not touch each other, it has a multifactorial and complex etiology. The
objective of the present study is to present a clinical case report of anterior open bite
in a child, with an interdisciplinary approach. Patient N.F.X., 8 years old, female,
looks for treatment with the complaint of “toothache” (sic). Pediatric Dentistrytreatment was initially carried out and later Orthodontics treatment was carried out
with a fixed space-maintaining appliance due to the early loss of the lower deciduous
molar and a fixed palatal crib appliance due to the presence of 5mm of anterior open
bite. The follow-up time was 11 months and the patient was referred for treatment
with a Speech Therapist. Interdisciplinary and early management in the treatment of
anterior open bite is of great importance to allow the correct growth and craniofacial
