Abstract:
Affective abandonment is the absence or negligence on the part of parents towards
their children. The incidence of abandonment in cases of couple separation is
common, causing emotional deprivation and psychological damage to the child. The
main objective of this article is to show the harmful effects that affective
abandonment triggers on the child's personality development process, which can be
irreversible, causing serious psychological problems that will last for adult life. In
order to carry out this academic work, exploratory research was used as a
methodology, with the aim of clarifying ideas, aiming at future research. Taking into
account that the end of the marital relationship, in an unfriendly way, is the trigger for
the affective abandonment of the offspring, it is usual for the litigious separation
between the parents to interfere in the healthy development of the children.
