Abstract:
Finitude marks human existence. Death, although natural, generates feelings related
to loss, longing, melancholy, etc. Mourning is culturally more significant and painful
for mothers who, at some point in their lives, find themselves in a position to deal with
the death of their beloved son/daughter. About this, this article proposes to think
about the effectiveness of Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) for bereaved mothers
to be able to experience grief and treat comorbidities of pathological grief. For that, a
bibliographical analysis was used, through a bibliographical revision and verification
of clinical case studies. It appears that the results shown in case studies within CBT
with bereaved mothers corroborate the relevance and vitality of this approach in
helping these women.
