Abstract:
This study analyzes health literacy (HL), which is fundamental for nurses in shaping
effective communication with users. Cultural adaptation is vital to understanding
beliefs, contributing to a personalized approach. Whereas, two-way communication
and participatory methods impact equity and health outcomes. The chosen research
method was narrative review, conducted from August to October 2022 in the VHL,
SciELO and PubMed, covering articles from 2020 to 2023. Health communication
strategies with HL benefit health education in the short, medium and long term term.
The importance of training in health literacy for the first care team stands out for
improving the exchange of knowledge, behavior and trust. The mental health
approach emphasizes nurses' need for competence and understanding. In short, the
continuous integration of these principles into training and practice is essential to
address health literacy challenges.
