Abstract:
Acne vulgaris is a disease that affects around 80% of the world's population, causing
a major impact on the population's mental health, damaging self-esteem and self-confidence, and can lead to social isolation and even depression, affecting
patients' quality of life. Some studies prove that there is an important relationship
between inflammatory skin diseases and the balance of the intestinal microbiota,
therefore, its good functioning can indicate an interesting therapeutic approach for
balancing and improving important dermatological conditions, such as acne. vulgar.
This study aimed to analyze the use of probiotics in the treatment of acne vulgaris
with the modulation of the intestinal microbiota, present the pathophysiology of acne,
demonstrate the mechanism of action of probiotics in the treatment of acne,
highlighting the advantages and possible benefits of using probiotics. in the treatment
of acne, demonstrating the influence of probiotics on the body and relating the
functionality of probiotics in the treatment of acne vulgaris and maintenance of the
human intestinal microbiota. An integrative literature review was carried out on the
use of probiotics in acne vulgaris treatments, the collection was carried out through
books, articles and periodicals in a database. According to the literature reviews
carried out, we can conclude that the use of oral and described probiotics are
practical and safe in the treatment of acne vulgaris. The associations of probiotics
with antimicrobials and topicals, such as 2.5% benzoyl peroxide, enhance the
treatment and guarantee a better result.
