Abstract:
This study aims to understand how changes in family structures and external
environment dynamics affect the formation of the "Self" in an individual. Based on
Donald Winnicott's maturation theory, it emphasizes the importance of the
mother-baby relationship and the early stages of life. Utilizing a methodology of
narrative literature review with qualitative analysis, it examines different
understandings of families, including contemporary conceptions of family that go
beyond blood ties. The results highlight the influence of the family on emotional
development and the subjectivity of individuals. In the end, we suggest further research on the impact of socioeconomic and cultural changes on family structures
and their effect on emotional and identity development.
