Abstract:
Introduction: The low level laser therapy has been widely used in various areas of
dentistry, providing analgesic, anti-inflammatory, and tissue repair effects. Its
properties can assist in safe in-office treatment. Objective: The objective of this
study was to conduct a literature review to analyze the indications of low-level laser
therapy in dental applications. Methodology: This present study consists of a
literature review conducted on the databases Pubmed, MedLine, Scielo, Google
Scholar, LILACS, using the keywords: “lasertherapy”, “laser therapy” and “dentistry”,
“low level laser therapy” or “laser therapy” and “dentistry”. Results: The studies showed positive results in different areas of dentistry, obtaining improvements in
clinical parameters. Conclusion: The use of low level laser therapy is a frequently
performed procedure by dental professionals, demonstrating significant effectiveness
in complementary treatments to conventional methods. Moreover, this approach is
highly reliable, as it does not lead to adverse side effects. However, it is crucial for
professionals to be qualified for the execution of a satisfactory procedure.
