Abstract:
Laminitis in horses is inflammation and congestion of the foot. It is an extremely
painful process that constitutes a medical emergency due to the risk of worsening
and complications that can lead to death. Therefore, this work was developed
focused on the severity of the problem and the need to diagnose and treat the
disease early. As laminitis does not have a specific treatment, it is necessary to
discover the primary cause as soon as possible so that treatment can be carried out
so as not to harm the animal. This article has the general objective of facilitating the
understanding of laminitis, bringing to light its main characteristics, its occurrence
and treatment.
