Abstract:
Obesity is an extremely relevant subject to be discussed in society. The Ministry of
Health classifies obesity as a chronic disease, diagnosable at any stage of life. It is
an escalating global issue with an infinity of complications including high blood
pressure, diabetes, elevated cholesterol, sedentary lifestyle, depression, among
others. With the rise in obesity cases in both adults and children, a bibliographic
research was conducted to present how obesity is being addressed in the country
and the importance of engaging in physical activity to combat it. These exercises
should be supervised by specialized professionals in an environment capable of
meeting the needs of individuals with overweight and obesity. Understanding the
seriousness of this issue and the health consequences that lack of support can bring
is fundamental. This article highlights the importance of paying attention to obesity
and how the guidance of qualified physical education professionals aids in combating
obesity, making a significant difference in reversing this condition.
