Abstract:
Euthanasia is the practice of causing the death of an animal in a controlled manner
without causing pain, to alleviate suffering. To carry out euthanasia, physical or
chemical methods are used, with chemical being the most recommended as it does
not cause trauma and is safer. In this work, a case report was presented of a patient
treated at the Clínica Escola Veterinária da Faculdade de Inhumas - FacMais, an
animal of the canine species, male, Pit Bull breed, 14 years old, weighing 28,500kg.
The patient had dyspnea, lesions in the posterior lateral region close to the femur, and
the animal was unable to move. With the radiographic and laboratory findings, it was
decided to carry out euthanasia.
