Abstract:
The analysis of fatigue resistance in metallic structure connections is a crucial aspect
in modern engineering, since the safety and longevity of metallic constructions
depend significantly on this meticulous process. This study aims to deepen our
understanding of this important issue. To carry out this study, a comprehensive
review of the available literature was carried out on the assessment of fatigue
resistance of welded connections in metallic structures. The theoretical basis was
supported by the work of Smith et al. (2020), Rethwisch (2018), Johnson (2018),
Viana (2019) and Gibson and Ashby (1997). Throughout this study, it was hoped not
only to expand knowledge about fatigue resistance, but also to contribute to the
advancement of metal engineering by providing valuable insights that can influence
future practices and standards. This is a fundamental step to guarantee the safety
and durability of metal structures in a constantly evolving world. However, it is
important to highlight that there is still room for innovation and development of new
approaches. The phenomenon of fatigue cannot be underestimated and demands
increasingly precise and detailed analysis. Therefore, the development of new
methodologies becomes crucial to improve the accuracy of calculations and avoid
premature wear of structures over time. Only through an ongoing commitment to
research and innovation can we ensure that metal buildings remain safe and
functional in the face of the challenges of the modern construction environment.
