Abstract:
The objective of this study is to analyze, through scientific research, the assistance
provided by nurses to elderly people who suffer from foot ulcers related to diabetes
and are cared for in Basic Health Units (UBS). Due to the aging process itself, elderly
people face several factors that make them vulnerable to a series of challenges
related to health and well-being. In this study, an integrative review of the literature
was adopted, through a bibliographic survey in electronic material, through
consultations in PUBMED and BVS in the following databases: LILACS, MedLine,
BDENF and SciELO, published in the years 2019 to 2024. In which The titles and
abstracts of the 38 articles researched were read. The 11 selected articles were then
read in full, in which they were analyzed in detail, critically and impartially, seeking
explanations for the diverse and conflicting results in the different studies. After
reading all 11 articles, 10 articles were selected that provided the basis for the article.
Therefore, it is concluded that it is important for nurses to carry out a comprehensive
assessment of these elderly people both in Basic Health Units and at home, thus
ensuring that those who have diabetes mellitus and have ulcers resulting from
complications of Diabetes Mellitus receive appropriate assistance. quality. This helps
to avoid future complications and/or the need for prolonged treatment.
