Abstract:
The present article aims to highlight the impacts and clinical prevalence of
supernumerary teeth in a pediatric patient with a cleft lip, undergoing treatment at the
FacMais School of Dentistry Clinic. In this way, it will report the impacts that
supernumerary teeth have brought to this patient, including aesthetic and functional
aspects. A systematic literature review will be conducted using electronic databases
such as PubMed. The study involved a 7-year-old male child who was born with a
cleft lip, which had already been surgically treated, and presented with
supernumerary teeth in the cleft region. Thus, after the surgical treatment of this
patient, satisfactory results were achieved, as the primary needs of the patient were
addressed, which included the surgical removal of the impacted supernumerary tooth
that was preventing the eruption of the permanent tooth.
