Abstract:
This study investigated the potential of rosemary essential oil in hair treatment,
focusing on its effectiveness in combating hair loss and stimulating hair growth. The
research was carried out through a systematic literature review, using scientific
databases such as PubMed, SciELO and Google Scholar, with articles published
between 2014 and 2024. Fifty initial articles were analyzed and, after applying inclusion
and exclusion criteria, 7 relevant studies were selected. The results highlighted that
rosemary essential oil has antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and vasodilatory properties,
promoting better circulation in the scalp and strengthening hair follicles. In addition,
comparative studies demonstrated similar efficacy to minoxidil, but with fewer adverse
effects. It was concluded that rosemary oil is a promising alternative for the treatment
of hair conditions, although safety and efficacy require further scientific validation.
