Abstract:
This study aims to understand and identify the behaviors that nurses should adopt to
promote mental health in pregnant women, aiming to contribute to improving care
during the gestational period. The data indicates that mental health during pregnancy
requires comprehensive and continuous care, and it is a process that aims to ensure
the well-being of these mothers and the good development of the fetus. The role of
the nurse in promoting mental health during pregnancy is crucial for the early
identification and planning of care for pregnant women who show signs of mental
disorders. A quantitative and qualitative approach was used, based on a literaturereview with research in the SciELO, PubMed, e-Academic and Google Scholar
databases, resulting in the selection of 8 references. Given the above, the direct
relationship between the mother’s mental health and the newborn’s well-being is
clear. In this context, the results highlight the need to intensify research and improve
the training of professionals, in addition to strengthening the practice of perinatal
mental health care for pregnant women.
