O PAPEL PROFISSIONAL DA ENFERMAGEM OBSTÉTRICA NO PARTO HUMANIZADO: UMA REVISÃO INTEGRATIVA

Abstract

Humanized childbirth constitutes a care model that aims to respect the physiology of birth, the rights of the pregnant woman, and the autonomy of the woman throughout the birthing process. In this context, obstetric nursing plays a fundamental role by providing qualified care focused on humanized support. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the professional role of the obstetric nurse in providing assistance during humanized childbirth. The methodology consists of an integrative literature review, with data collection carried out using secondary sources through bibliographic research. The following descriptors were used: "professional role," "obstetric nursing," and "humanized childbirth." Searches were conducted in the databases LILACS, MEDLINE, and SciELO, accessed through the Virtual Health Library (VHL). The results, mostly from studies conducted in Brazil, highlight the importance of obstetric nursing in promoting humanized care by offering woman-centered support. This care includes physical and emotional support, as well as the application of evidence-based pain relief practices that empower women during childbirth and help combat obstetric violence, even in the face of institutional challenges and dynamics within multidisciplinary teams. It is concluded that the presence of the obstetric nurse in humanized childbirth is essential to ensure safe and respectful care, and that greater recognition and encouragement of their role are needed.
