Abstract:
This research aimed to analyze the effectiveness of applying nursing care protocols in
the prevention, early detection, and treatment of pressure injuries in bedridden patients
in Intensive Care Units (ICUs). The study was developed through a bibliographic
analysis, with a qualitative and descriptive approach, using articles and books
published between 2020 and 2025 as a basis. The consulted sources demonstrated
that pressure injuries represent a recurring problem with a significant impact on publichealth, especially among critically ill and immobilized patients. The results revealed
that the adoption of standardized protocols, associated with continuous training of the
nursing team and the humanized practice of care, significantly contributes to reducing
the incidence of these injuries and improving the quality of care. It was also found that
prevention should be seen as a systematic action that integrates technical knowledge,
ethical responsibility, and empathy, with the nurse being the main agent of
transformation in this process. Thus, the study reinforces the importance of
systematizing nursing care as an essential tool for patient safety and for promoting
comprehensive and humanized care.
