Abstract:
The high prevalence of childhood overweight and obesity in Brazil, associated
with elevated consumption of ultra-processed foods, represents a significant
public health challenge. Food and Nutritional Education (FNE) in the school
environment emerges as a fundamental tool for shaping healthy habits, despite
implementation challenges. This review study aimed to analyze the impact and
effectiveness of FNE actions in schoolchildren aged 2 to 12 years. The
methodology involved the selection and analysis of eight scientific articles from
the Google Scholar, PubMed, and LILACS databases. The analysis revealed
that FNE actions play an essential role in building healthy eating habits and
developing children's autonomy, especially in childhood. However, the study
points to limitations in evaluating the long-term effects of interventions and in
the systematization of scientific dissemination. It is concluded that the school
environment is a strategic space for the continuous and structured
implementation of FNE, enhancing its results and expanding the reach of public
health promotion policies.
