Abstract:
The present bibliographic study describes some studies about swimming and its effects on motor development during childhood. The objective is to reveal how important the adaptation to the liquid environment and the swimming practice are for the development of the child inserted in the school environment and to list the benefits that swimming provides to the body. Unfortunately, the lack of school structure is a major obstacle for the teacher to develop well his swimming lessons, among other issues. It was made a theoretical survey about the history of swimming, its benefits and influence on the child psychomotricity, and, consequently, a pedagogical proposal constituted of a plan and application of swimming teaching for children. Swimming is considered as one of the most complete sports in existence, benefiting both the physical and intellectual parts of those who practice it. Helps in self-confidence and socialization. Being its practice, of fundamental importance in the formation of the children, since its motor development is stimulated and will be used throughout its life, for the sport as for any other purpose. Psychomotricity under the pedagogical view facilitates the confrontation of difficulties that arise in the daily lives of children, in a relationship between thought and action that encompasses neurophysiological and psychic functions.
