Abstract:
Introduction: The present study aims to analyze the nurse’s role in addressing
the challenges and strategies involved in nursing care for the treatment of
patients with severe burns. Objective: This study aims to analyze the challenges
and strategies in nursing care for the treatment of patients with severe burns.
Methodology: A qualitative approach was adopted, based on a literature review
using the Google Scholar, SCIELO, and Brazilian Journal of Burns platforms,
resulting in the selection of extremely relevant articles. Results: The data indicate
that in nursing care for the treatment of patients with severe burns, there are
challenges to be overcome and strategic decisions to be made to provide
effective care. The role of the nurse in the care of severely burned patients is
essential to ensure the effective assessment of the burned body surface area and
thus define the severity and prognosis of the client. It is necessary for the nurse
and the entire multidisciplinary team to be qualified to provide excellent and highquality
care, aiming at hemodynamic stability and precise monitoring.
Conclusion: The continuous qualification of nurses and the multiprofessional
team is essential, given the scarcity of resources aimed at addressing the
challenges faced in the care of patients with severe burns. This training promotes
an accurate assessment of the burned body surface area, contributing to the
determination of injury severity and patient prognosis. Furthermore, excellence in
care depends on the ability to ensure hemodynamic stability and rigorous
monitoring, highlighting the nurse’s central role in this process. Therefore, such
measures are crucial for optimizing clinical outcomes and improving the quality
of life of patients with severe burns.
