Abstract:
Objective: This article aims to find effective health strategies for managing emotionaleating in obese adults in the literature. Methodology: This is a literature review, with
searches on the Google Scholar and PubMed platforms, including articles published
between 2018 and 2025, in Portuguese, English, and Spanish. Results and
discussion: The final sample consisted of 11 articles, which presented the following
interventions: mindfulness, mindful eating, intuitive eating, intermittent fasting,
therapeutic meditation, and motivational interviewing. The studies indicate
improvements in eating behavior, greater emotional regulation, and a reduction in
emotional eating. In some cases, a decrease in Body Mass Index was observed.
Conclusion: These strategies promote a more balanced and sustainable
relationship with food, promoting self-regulation and well-being, expanding the
possibilities of care in the context of obesity. It is important to reinforce the need for
more studies on the subject to deepen knowledge about current strategies, and also
to investigate other possible approaches for this population.
