A IMPORTÂNCIA DA ENFERMAGEM NA PREVENÇÃO DO CÂNCER DE COLO DE ÚTERO: uma revisão integrativa

Abstract

Cervical cancer (CCU) is a serious public health problem, although it is a neoplasm largely preventable through primary and secondary prevention strategies. The objective of this study was to investigate the importance of nursing performance in the prevention of CCU, with an emphasis on Primary Health Care (PHC). This is an integrative literature review, with a qualitative approach, carried out in the LILACS and BDENF databases via the Virtual Health Library (VHL). The final sample consisted of seven articles published between 2021 and 2025. The results show thatnurses play a central and strategic role, working in the management of HPV immunizations, performing cytopathological exams, and in health education actions. The study highlights that the therapeutic bond, humanized care, and active search are essential tools to increase women's adherence to screening. It is concluded that strengthening the nurse's role, supported by updated protocols and continuing education, is fundamental for early diagnosis and for reducing the morbidity and mortality associated with CCU in Brazil.
