Abstract:
First aid at school is an immediate and temporary assistance to a child, applying basic emergency procedures in order to maintain the victim’s vital signs. The main objective of this work is to analyze the knowledge of basic education professionals, taking into account their knowledge in first aid when there is an emergency situation at school. The research highlights the importance and improvement of first degree teachers. It was based on a semi-structured questionnaire, addressing specific knowledge about first aid. Regarding the specific questionnaire, we had 11(eleven) participants, including teachers and undergraduate students. The results of this research contribute to demonstrate that Physical Education teachers are qualified for initial care and public school teachers are not qualified. It is concluded that there is a real need for training courses on first aid for education professionals.
