This research understands the importance of School Physical Education, for students
in Elementary II. Physical Education plays a key role in the development of children;
therefore, it is of great importance for socialization, interaction, and development of
motor skills. Its fundamental contents for development are based on body culture
with a body practice at school. Therefore, we will also try to present the history of
Physical Education, show the importance of Physical Education at school, and its
benefits. During the research, the guiding problem will be: ''What is the importance
given to school Physical Education for the education of children in the Elementary II?
Society is constantly changing and for this to reflect directly in the classroom, it is
necessary to create new methods/ways/strategies to get the attention of students
and learning in the school environment, giving meaning and importance to this
practice in school. The methodology used in the research was a literature review with
a search for texts in sites such as Scielo, as well as texts from my own study during
graduation. Research by authors such as BARBOSA (2001), BASEI (2008),
FALKENBACH (2002), among others, was used, concluding that more than just
stimulating the practice of a sport, school physical education has the function of
making students experience other cultures and healthier life habits.
