Abstract:
Introduction. Venous ulcers (UV) are considered a serious public health problem in Brazil, the number of people with some type of wound has been growing over the last few decades, with high costs due to the long period of treatment. Chronic venous insufficiency, wounds are complex, with a slow healing period. Care must be performed by a qualified professional using clinical reasoning and scientific evidence. Objective. to classify injuries and/or wounds, assess and prevent new wounds and recurrences. Methods.The research is an integrative review, addressing varicose ulcers, as an established theme: Evaluation of varicose ulcers raising the question: high rate of people with varicose-type wounds, which have resulted in high costs for public health in Brazil due to its long period of treatment. Results and discussions. they showed that the training of professionals is efficient in choosing the appropriate treatment for each type of wound. Final Considerations. the nurse has a main role in the recovery of the patient's health and well-being, as a mediator of the team's knowledge.
