Abstract:
Introduction. Rapid tests were created in the 1980s, being performed in primary care as a form of screening, performed during prenatal consultations and extended to the general population. And from the creation of primary care, it is noted that nurses have a fundamental role in improving health indicators. Objective. This study aims to identify the main challenges faced by nursing in tracking STIs in primary care in Brazil. Methods. This is a narrative review systematized with searches in the Scientific Electronic Library Online (SCIELO) databases, Portal CAPES, Academic Google, and Ministry of Health in the last five years. Thirteen national studies from the last five years (2016-2021) were mapped, involving the role of nurses in rapid testing and that collaborate in the tracking of STIs, in the context of Brazilian Primary Care. Conclusion. Therefore, our study revealed an importance role for nurses in Brazilian Primary Care, and the challenges faced are related to the rapid testing of STIs
