Abstract:
Baby leaf is a recent product on the market, obtained through the early harvest
of traditional sized lettuce species. The objective of this work was to evaluate
the production of two species of baby leaf lettuce with reuse of water from fish
farming. The experiment was performed with 2 lettuce cultivars (crespa roxa
and crespa verde), with well and pisciculture water irrigation, totalizing 4
treatments with 5 repetitions. Height, number of leaves, leaf length, fresh mass
and dry mass were evaluated. There was a significant difference in the length of
the largest leaf in the purple head lettuce irrigated with pisciculture water, in the
fresh and dry mass in the green head lettuce with pisciculture water differed
from the purple head lettuce, with better averages. Lettuce using fishpond water
is a sustainable alternative for baby leaf production.
