Abstract:
Systemic arterial hypertension (SAH) is a chronic disease responsible for increasing
cardiovascular complications, morbidity and mortality in people. In Brazil, it is more
frequent in patients with diseases, or pharmacological treatment can trace quality and
longevity of life in patients with diseases, therefore, in the absence of adherence to treatment, it can cause health complications. Therefore, the objective of this work is
to demonstrate the importance of pharmaceutical assistance in the treatment of
systemic arterial hypertension in the elderly. An integrative review was carried out in
the literature on pharmaceutical care in patients with arterial hypertension, the queue
was obtained through books, articles and newspapers based on the data. Through
the bibliographic research carried out, I found that the pharmacological treatment of
hypertensive patients carried out in conjunction with a pharmaceutical follow-up, has
a better therapeutic efficacy, the pharmacist is the professional trained to promote
and guarantee the rational use of medicines, being essential in pharmaceutical
adaptation, guaranteeing health and quality of life for the elderly. Even so, it is
expected that this study will serve as a subsidy for further research on
pharmaceutical care in patients with hypertension and that the pharmaceutical
professional will be recognized and engaged in the pharmacological treatment of
hypertension in the elderly population in Brazil.
