Abstract:
The article's theme is nursing care for polytraumatized patients, which was motivated
by the lack of studies on the challenges to general care, lack of training, difficulties in
continuing education, structural and resource deficiency in the work environment. The
general objective will be to carry out a bibliographical survey of the challenges faced
by nursing team professionals in the effective care of polytraumatized patients in the
Intensive Treatment Center (ICU). The methodological procedure will be qualitative
bibliographical research. To better develop this research, the methodology will be
divided into three stages: definition of sources and databases; selection of materials
(annals, articles, dissertations and theses); analysis and interpretation of data. The results were a bibliographical survey of the main characteristics of polytraumatized
patients admitted to the ICU: the challenges in relation to general care and protocols
performed by nursing professionals and nurses, the lack of training, the impacts and
difficulties faced by the lack of continued training and the challenges faced by structural
and resource deficiencies in the work environment.
