Abstract:
The objective of this work was to carry out a study on the acceptance of the use
of maxillary expander devices in syndromic patients. A Literature Review was carried
out to evaluate maxillary expansion treatment in syndromic patients, in health
databases, in the following databases: PubMed, Scielo, Google Scholar, Cora
Coralina Digital Library -FACMAIS, and in scientific journals in the area of dentistry.
Using the following keywords: “maxillary atresia", “special patients”, “maxillary circuit
breaker”, “dental treatment”, and “nasopalatine cleft”. After the integrative literature
review, 11 works relevant to the project theme were selected, respecting the
determined inclusion and exclusion criteria initially. Among them: an online book
available in the institution's online library, a doctoral thesis and articles available in
online journals. After reading the selected works, a table was created guiding the
discussion of this work. From now on, with references and reviews From selected
literature it was possible to conclude that acceptance of the use of maxillary
expansion devices and treatment success may be relative among syndromic
