Abstract:
This article addresses the inclusion of Constitutional Law in the basic education
curriculum and how Bill No. 70/2015, which proposes this inclusion, can contribute to
civic education. The insertion of Constitutional Law in the curriculum aims to promote
early knowledge of citizens' rights and duties, aiming at the construction of a more
democratic and participatory society. Through a qualitative approach, this research
utilizes bibliographic and documentary data. The adopted method is deductive,
starting from major premises to specific conclusions. It is concluded that teaching
Constitutional Law in basic education can be a powerful tool to foster civic awareness.
By providing an understanding of the fundamental principles and values of theConstitution, students are empowered to actively participate in society. This early
understanding of constitutional principles can positively influence social interaction,
promoting respect for diversity, justice, and human rights. Therefore, the inclusion of
Constitutional Law in the curriculum represents an important step in the formation of
conscious and engaged citizens in the construction of a fairer and more democratic
society.
