Abstract:
This study investigates nurses’ approach to psychiatric crises in urgent and
emergency situations, aiming to identify challenges and opportunities for
improvement. Legislation, The Administrative Rule No. 3.088/2011 establishes the
Psychosocial Care Network (RAPs) for individuals experiencing mental distress or
disorders within the scope of the Unified Health System (SUS). Bibliographic analysis
reveals the importance of historical understanding, compliance with government
guidelines and the implementation of innovative approaches. The results highlight the
need for a comprehensive approach in the care of psychiatric crises, considering notonly the clinical aspects, but also the emotional, social and relational dimensions of
patients, for more humanized and effective assistance. In conclusion, nurses face
emotional overload, lack of adherence to treatment and communication barriers and
the implementing measures to improve professionals’ emotional support, promote
effective communication and strengthen interprofessional collaboration are essential
to guarantee quality care for patients in psychiatric crisis situations.
